Things that suck

Car is fixed. Got a couple of spares including new spark plug leads.

Absent are the distributor cap and a handle for the rear door. These will be collected next week Monday PM.

The interior fan was also shot (it smoked at a low speed) when I pulled and stripped it, I found that its brushes was shot, and damaged the commutator.

Got a 2nd hand one (there are no new spares at all) so what I will do is to put the “new” 2nd hand fan in, and see if the original fan can be refurbished. Should be possible if it did not get too much damage.

Boot release cable is starting to make funky noises, have ordered a new one as well while I’m busy with the car.

All inside panels around and under the dash got removed. There is a thick layer of dust everywhere.

Going to clean it all and scrub the panels insides before reassembly so the car will be clean for a year or two.

Then, I have located what looks like the fuel pump relay. If it is the fuel pump relay, then I’m gonna splice its power source, and insert a simple toggle switch somewhere in front.

Which means ne’er-do-wells will not be able to start the car unless they know where to look. Cheapy immobilizer.

One of our doggos went a bit walkabouts and did not return.

Eldest daughter cried.

Doggo is still young. Jack Russell/pug cross. Love that dog and his brother.

Dunno what happened, most probably wandered too far away and got lost.

R.I.P.

Brother (doggo) is still with us.

Tole my eldest daughter we will find another doggo.

I’ll take a small dog again, these are more manageable than Great Danes.

Taken when they were small about two to three years ago. The light brown one is the one that got lost.

Dogs crawl into your heart. Gonna miss the little bugger.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I hope he surprises you and finds his way home.

That’s what some of us hope for.

Obscure coolant system parts. Need a new plastic T piece with housing for a temperature sensor, VW agent is struggling to identify and locate the correct part on the system.

Gah.

I’ve accumulated 118 sick days (5+ months) and 73 vacation days (almost 4 months).
Unless I break my hands, I’m pretty much expected to be able to work from home all the time.
I can’t go anywhere or do anything, so vacation days don’t really mean anything.

I used to always say that I’d rather take the time than the pay for any overtime done because they’ll tax your pay but not your time, which makes it more valuable. Now, I’m not sure.

I threw out miles of cable this summer from my old/disused stockpile of tv cable, phone cord, and old computer bits.

I just found a couple of old 2.5" drive enclosures that use the USB mini B connector and I don’t have one. Me. I don’t have one. My girlfriend is laughing her lovely ass off at that. I need to make an online order at the local computer store so I can make a curbside pickup for a $4 sale.

I finally figured out this week that my network speeds in my office are because when I scrounged up the patch cables to connect everything in the room…they were all Cat5.

A 5-pack of Cat5e patch cables arrives today and the old & busted cables go right in the bin.

It sucks a little bit less that a cow-orker is dropping by this afternoon with a surplus cable from his own private stash.

This thread has reminded me to purchase a bunch of new Cat5e cables to replace everything in our house because I know some of these cables are damned near 20 years old.

Finding out that the ethernet bottleneck on my network is the speed of that laptop I got for a really good price.
Shit a god damn.

The guys I work with start 1 and 2 hours before me. When we worked in an office setting, they’d often kick out early once they had all of their work done and we’d all walk down to the pub. Often, that meant a 4 or 5 hour work day for me. Now, that doesn’t happen and I have to sit alone in my dining room office until the end of my work day.
sigh

Welp just found out through working with a doctor that i have ADHD with both hyperactive disorder and inattentive disorder.

Is an USB ethernet dongle (or USB3 docking station) an option?

If you know you can look into treatment at least.

(Seriously, I know some people that love ADHD treatment, some that hate it. It is, sadly, one of those things you need to work with a professional on to ‘dial in’ treatment a bit.)

Taking a long time to fall asleep the past few months (think it started when family and myself separated).

I’m being cautious, and if I notice any further deviation in my habits or patterns or the such, then I’ll be concerned and start a dialogue on how to reverse it.

Today is password change day.
OH MY GOD! If I have to enter my password one more place I’m going to scream!
I already have to do it a hundred times a day in 19 different systems. Now that I’ve changed it, I’m bound to forget and have to redo it another couple of dozen times every day until I get used to the new one.

AAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!

My mother’s older Shetland pony Trojan has been diagnosed with Cushing’s Laminitis so now he has to take tablets (imagine giving a cat a tablet, but the cat weighs half a tonne and can kick like a shotgun) and wear a ridiculous dressing on the affected hoof that makes him look like he’s stood on a nappy.

Screw you, winter!

Oh, that sucks. Take care of him and keep out of the way of hooves.

They’re called horse pills. Should be fine.
