Things you wish you could say (everywhere)

My first car was like that - 1972 Holden HQ Premier, with the 202ci (3.3l) straight-six engine. Enough room in the engine bay that you could drop a basketball in there and have it hit the ground…

(Cue the Googling as you all ask “WTF car was that?” )

Naw, I’ve loved the Holden’s ever since I saw my first spute. Of course, that was much more recent than yours.

Yeah, pretty much…

I want this one!

Kind of makes me think “Budget Hearse.”

Didn’t Mad Max (Mel Gibson) and his family go on vacation in a Holden?
Or is my memory failing me again…

Ahhh… A Belmont Panel-van. The ‘base’ model of the range. Always wanted a Panel-van, preferably with the V8 and four-speed gearbox. They go for stupid amounts of money these days.

Rizak: What’s a “spute”?? Do you mean “ute”?

GC800:5: Yep, they sure did.

What with Frau Ook being preggers we’re looking at a bigger car. Fiat Palio weekender doesn’t cut it anymore… need something bigger.

Congratulations!

Thanks. Initially we thought to stop at three ooklets, but we did not had the money for sterilization. Now that the fourth one is on its way, we can have the frau sterilized after childbirth. Her initial choice, and mine as well. Four is more than enough.

Love my children, they truly are gifts from the Creator

I’m guessing he was failing at trying to abbreviate sport utility. (SUV here, usually) I could be wrong.

I’ve always thought that a station wagon would be a fun vehicle. You can pack in people and/or stuff, but don’t have to suffer from the way a full size van handles.

Y’all call a pickup truck a “ute” down under, right?

No, I think a “ute” is what we remember as the El Camino, Ranchero, or Baja.

No, I think a “ute” is what Joe Pesci was describing in the 1992 movie My Cousin Vinny.

Only in pairs.

A utility or “ute” down here is basically any passenger vehicle that has an exposed cargo area at the rear.

are all utes.

The four-door models are dubbed “dual-cab” utes (or “duallies”), and the ones with a simple flat bed in the rear are known as tray-tops or flatbeds, depending on whom you are talking to.

There are some light trucks that can be fitted with a tray in much the same way, but these are simply referred to as “trucks”.

Wait, duallies are pick up trucks with 4 wheels in the back.

Okay, you are an ad-supported site. But blocking me from reading your site unless I turn off my ad-blocker means that I just won’t read what you have to say. I am not going to turn off my ad-blocker when it is telling me that it has blocked 33 ads on the page.

Just to be clear, this is your loss, not mine.
If I read something interesting I will often share it with other people - some of whom probably won’t have an ad-blocker enabled. So I am not going to be bombarded with your adverts regardless, but you are cutting yourself off from a potential source of revenue.

Oh yeah, looking at you Forbes.com

This one was actually Business Insider, but several web sites seem to be doing that now. So far I have either been able to get the information elsewhere or I don’t really care enough to try.

Here, those are called “Massive American trucks”.

Same here. I have started to block ads, as it is a definite security risk, and most of the ads are bandwidth hogs as well.
