My father-in-law diagnosed the problem with the furnace and wrote down the part number, then our contractor friend from church found it online for, like, $20 and installed it today! He and his wife wouldn’t let me pay him, either—but I do teach voice lessons to his daughters for free, so I guess I won’t feel too bad about it. Also, he may have fixed the septic alarm issue, which isn’t the end of the issues with the septic system, but is very likely the end of the super-irritating issue that’s been plaguing us for four years and three septic maintenance companies. The alarm tends to go off after 10pm, so I’ll know later tonight if it worked.
The project I’ve been working on for the last 6 months has just gone live.
It has been an unqualified success. There have been 5 phone calls, all of which are user error.
You know, the first Neil Gaiman work I ever read was a non-fiction book about the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy he wrote. Looks like it first came out in 1988, and I found it in the mid 90s at a public library. It was interesting, as he seemed like much more of a ‘journalist’ in that era.
We have readjusted to schedule, and I now only work with one certain coworker once or twice a week, and I get to work with my new (old) coworker every other weekend plus once a week! Over the moon! Because I know I won’t be dumped on, as she works hard because that’s our job!!
Oh, yes! Now I just have to see if I can make it.
Edit: I need to see if I can find a pattern for the chain mail too. It worked in Monty Python’s Holy Grail, after all.
I am not at work. I am, however, sitting at COSI here in Columbus, with my kids, in the planetarium. Then we will go back to the puzzle exhibit. Then lunch, and a movie about ancient China. And more puzzles. Then we will pick up Dad and go out for dinner and catch a movie. Note how nothing relates to work. All family. No work. And for tomorrow? Also no work. Except housework. And yardwork. But that’s not real work. That’s fun work. No work for two whole days.
