Ugh, yes… the neverending story of chores. A task I have to make some progress on in the next three weeks, but something always comes up. And that it feels like a sauna on the surface of the sun in there does nothing to help my motivation.
Being ON the beach by 9am. And it’s repeatable for the next five or six days, weather permitting…

Getting half of my belongings off the floor and onto some shelves. Once I get rid of more boxes of crap, I’ll have all my floor space back again.
This beer.
This is good.
2014 Chevy Captiva with 6k miles. Marked down about 5k because “used” and “tornado damage” needs a couple spots of touch up paint. Was a rental, but it’s got leather, heated seats, sun roof, bluetoof, plays Pandora through the stereo,. It’s a 4 banger, so I’m not winning any drag races any time soon. But the slalom course near my house is fun as shit in it. (Hard S curve in the county road)
I had to take a payment on it, but it’s only four years and we can make double payments with room to spare. We’re hoping to get it paid in a little over two years. My preapproved loan at PNC was successfully used to club down the dealer financing to a tenth point under what I had, fees ended up evening it all out.
So far I’m pretty damn happy, stereo is lacking a bit in volume, but clarity is good with what it does have, and I am 42 and it might be time to stop blaring dubstep at the neighbors.
Jackie Chan’s new movie, Dragon Blade has started filming. Jackie Chan, John Cusack, and Choi Siwon all in the same movie? Cool!
Edited to add link to article.
I really like Jackie Chan, I just wish I knew whether his stated politics are what he really believes or if he just caves in to pressure. Either one disappoints me, it’s just a matter of degree. I can get behind his nationalism, it’s his support of the government itself that’s disturbing.
In any case that sounds awesome anyway. I’ll have to watch Cannon Ball Run again to celebrate.
Mucinex
plus some characters to make it long enough to post.
Home again, home again.
Was in Lowell, MA for the week for training, and drove home yesterday.
The drive up from Cincy to Lowell was Sunday, half of Monday, and went well. Overnighted in Drums, PA.
The drive back was not so much fun. Started in Somerville, MA, just north of Cambridge, at about 3:30. I had heavy traffic d@mn near all the way to Middletown, NY where I stayed… including the whole state of Connecticut. Then heavy traffic again across the rest of NY, and combinations of traffic and construction across Pennsylvania.
Was very happy to get home.
There will be no Sundays w/o football between now and the end of January.
Also, the response when Jim Kelly was introduced at the Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremony.
Yesterday I walkled around all day with no glasses on and generally could see ok. PRK surgery last Friday.
Today I can see for balls, so I’m watching Red Dwarf, makes it seem much more well produced.
Seeing Jim Kelly at the Hall of Fame enshrinment ceremony last night. And the response from the crowd every time his name was mentioned.
I started a short term, part time job today. It doesn’t pay more than pocket change, but can you really call it a job when you’re getting paid to have fun? I’m driving Japanese students from their host families’ houses to the community center, then picking them up and taking them home at the end of the day. In exchange, I get a little bit of money, mileage, I get to practice my Japanese, and I get to go with them on their sightseeing trips in San Francisco.
Well, you can call it a job, but you probably can’t call it work ![]()
Sounds like an ideal job for you right now ![]()
Firefly Online has been delayed about nine months. The reason why I’m happy it’s delayed is because they got Nathan, Gina, Alan, Morena, Adam, Ron, Sean, Summer and Jewel to reprise their roles, plus Michael Fairman (Niska), Kelly Hu and Michael Dorn to record other characters.
I thought we had all agreed that Summer spelled death for any project she was part of.
Hope springs eternal.
You were up in my neck of the woods. Drums is about half an hour south of where I live.
I am halfway through my list for the day (which is about 40 items long), and it’s not quite noon. I just can’t wait to get things back to normal, with everything cleaned and put away, the outside back to being in good shape, and the garden tended to. I love vacations, but there is always so much to do when you get home. And I even cleaned my house and had the outside stuff pristine before we left!
