Today, I won’t have to go anywhere else after work except the gym. And I just finished drinking a cup of caffeinated coffee without feeling the jitters. Normally, I would get jittery after a few sips.
A bit old hat, but I just watched the trailer for the new "Mad Max’ film.
All the ‘Michael Bay’-esque explosions aside, it might be worth a look. I always had a soft spot for the Mad Max films.
Please let it not suck!!!
On a related note, Car Wars Classic is coming out this fall. $19.95 for the original, upgraded contents, pocket book version of Car Wars. This is part of the push towards a new Car Wars in 2015.
Steve Jackson really wants to do something besides Munchkin, but it makes too much money for him ot ignore.
First day of school! And all three kids are in school all day every day! My house is so quiet, and I can clean it and keep it that way for a few hours!
Stabby headache went away.
I just got some awesome, upbeat music! I can get an Imagine Dragons “Radioactive” fix whenever I want it now (without having to watch the unbelievably strange music video on YouTube), and perk myself up with American Authors’ “Best Day of My Life”.
Both of those albums are fantastic. I don’t think there’s a single song on either of them that I don’t like.
Bean soup that has been simmering all day, followed by cookies fresh out of the oven.
Rebecca Black’s first Single.
I shot ~200 arrows yesterday and don’t feel too bad this morning. (And this is a recurve bow, where you pull and hold the full draw-strength. Not the “cheating” compound bow where the eccentric cams drop the load on your body by 60% at full draw.)
And this is sort-of for Nabiki - there is a guy in the archery club with a Japanese asymmetric Yumi bow. It looks fantastic. Photo:
Sunbeam has a new(er) 2005 Ford Focus ST. It’s… quite zippy. And hopefully more reliable than our Suburu, which is getting more than a little temperamental in its dotage.
Oooh… Kyuudo. I’ve always been interested in archery. When I was in my 20’s, I even bought a bow, but was never able to find a place around here to practice. I met someone in my Japanese class who did kyuudo (Japanese style archery) but I think she practiced somewhere in the south bay area.
Waking up to a pretty damned good rendition of some Arlo Guthrie songs, sung and played by my neighbor and a friend of his.
For a moment there, I thought the past 30-some years had been just some surreal dream.
I came back from my vacation and my badge still worked.
There are quite a few people around here that could say the opposite and it would make their day.
I am this far —> <— away from selling my Ducati.
(Technically, it’s my wife’s Ducati. When we separated she got the house and the car whilst I got the bike and my sanity. I think I got the better side of the deal.)
It’s bad form to reply to my own post, but the Ducati has gone to it’s new home. I just hope that the new owner gets more use out of it than my wife did.
I’ve always liked Ducatis, especially the Monsters. Fun bikes to ride although it’s been almost 20 years since I last rode one.
Wow, that was fast
No, not really.
I’d had it advertised for a couple of months. One “nibble” that didn’t eventuate, then a frantic rush over two days as a guy wanted to look at it and then decided to buy it.
I took a pretty big hit in terms of price, but it was the decision between cash now or maybe more cash sometime in the future.
In the end, we both walked away happy.
And yes, it was a Monster - a 2008 695 with 1000km (~600 miles) on it from new.
Discourse hit version 1.0!!
