A senior NCO! Congrats Can you make people jump on command? Can you call inspections? Can you bark orders and have your will carried out by others?
Wow, E7. Not much further you can go there. You going to try for First? Is there a WO track for your MOS?
Well, itâs not being waved, but congrats anyway!
I had lunch with a co-worker from my previous place of employment today. Based on the things he told me, Iâm glad I got out of there when I did.
My son turned 13 last month, and one of the things we said we would get for him is a cell phone. It just wouldnât be right away, since my wife and I wanted to look into a possible carrier switch as well. Turns out the best option for us was to stay on our old smartphone plan and just add a line.
The look of joy on my sonâs face was priceless this afternoon when we gave him an iPhone 5C. He wasnât expecting that.
I found this! I was in a Space Bag commercial in 2009. I show up at the 0:45 mark.
They were calling all the local people whoâd ordered from their website and asking if they wanted to be in a commercial. Of course I said yes, 'cause I canât let that sort of thing pass by. They wouldnât let me wear my glasses, the makeup person styled my hair like Iâd never styled it before (or will again, especially 'cause Iâll probably never go that short again), and I was coming down with a cold. Many people I see all the time IRL didnât even recognize me for a long time.
Itâs off the air now, but I canât believe I found it today! They never did send me a copy of it, like they said they would . . .
Theoretically, I suppose. In our company, itâs like âyawn, another senior NCO.â Iâm the fourth SFC in my platoon (which has about 12 people in it). Weâre a little understrength and top-heavy. I only got my very own subordinate about a year ago.
I donât know any happy E8s. There is indeed a warrant track, and an empty warrant slot just above me on the MTOE. Unfortunately, I need a civilian career first, since there are zero full-time warrant officer jobs. Iâm working on that. Is Windows XP still the new hotness?
(I went off to Basic in 2004 and never really rejoined the civilian workforce: Four weeks contracting between training and Afghanistan, and a single day contracting after Afghanistan before I escaped back into full-time Guard in 2007.)
H3ll, I could do that, and I was left as a very well-aged E-5. (Six years TIG, if anyone else is counting!)
I had people in other UNITS jumping when I pushed my weight around. My patients⌠your job, see?!
Yeah, donât they take that part of you out when they pin on the rank? You have to replace happiness with sadism.
Kind of like how the shamshield (E4) comes with an extra snark injection.
It happened Monday, but Iâm still happy about it today⌠I again have a car!
My Escape (or the Chuck wagon, as my friends called it) got hit on Feb 1st, and the insurance ruled it a total loss. It wasnât a big shock, since it was a 2003 with 175,500 miles. But I really loved that car - it had great space, was comfortable around town or on the highway, the v6 had great power and good mileage. Iâve had it since 05, I think.
Anyway, I decided to change things up a bit and picked up a Fusion on Monday night! Iâm digging it so far
In the past I wasnât much of a Ford fan but if I had to buy a car that wasnât a Subaru, Iâd give the Fusion a really good look.
@Sig feels the same. Iâd want to test drive one, first, but theyâre flashy little sedans. Congrats, @RoadRunner!
Woke up with this in my head. Sharing it with you all gives me a double bonus!
Gratch has an older Fusion (2006?) and she loves it. I do too. Itâs a good car with room and pickup on the highway. Drives decently in crappy weather too. Weâd definitely look at getting a newer one if we had to get her a new car.
What is this âcrappy weatherâ of which you speak?
Thanks! I had to go to a client downtown yesterday evening, so I got to drive it farther than 9 miles at a time for the first time. Comfy and eats up the highway.
We rented a Fusion to drive to Didneyland for the honeymoon. We liked it, but we love our Honda Fit. To bad we couldnât wait one more year for the hybrid model. LE-sigh.
The first time I saw that name badge âFitâ, my first thought was not healthy, but "Kanipshin!"
I have a friend that has a Fit, and he likes it, but that car always makes me think of a spaz.
I got the new Lego EV3 Mindstorm set and a new soldering iron for my burfday. A nice variable Weller model. But Iâve been playing with the Lego set all day. Made 3 models already.
I donât have to go to work today. I requested the day off last month, and today I get to enjoy it.
/me wanders off to make a pot of tea and some bacon for breakfast.
