What Made You Happy Today?

Yet you still got up at oh-dark-thirty. We have very different ideas of how to spend a day off.

I’m more inclined to get up crazy-early on a day off because it means I get to do more of the things I want to do.

I was totally home alone Saturday night, everyone was gone.

I got up at 6:00 on Sunday. It was glorious.

More of the things I want to do usually includes sleeping longer. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, but you’d have stayed up far later that I did last night.

I rode my motorcycle to work today. The after-market EEPROM has totally transformed the engine dynamics. Compared to the old (stock) EEPROM, it’s like being fired out of a cannon when I give the throttle a twist.

So if any of you out there have a fuel-injected Aprilia, get yourself one of Gabro’s EEPROMs.

The OS upgrade on my home server went smoothly. This is quite different to last time, when I ended up having to do a complete re-install…

Siglet Prime turns 6 today. I took the day off and we are going to the Seattle Aquarium. Walking across the Bremerton ferry, so I don’t have to actually drive in Seattle.

Going to the Zoo yesterday with Mrs. Viking and Little Miss Viking.

Little Miss Viking now knows how loud a lion’s ā€œRaaa Raa Raaaā€ really is.

And this picture makes me giggle like a loon at times.

Frozen won Best Animated Picture and Let It Go won Best Original Song at the Academy Awards tonight.

I got a five-page story written, which was the last step in submitting my application for one of the grants/scholarships my writers’ community hands out every year. Now the wait for the results…

You ever listen to Writing Excuses? I have a couple times and it’s pretty cool, I assume it’s good for writers too.

Wrote my first SQL query using windowing functions today. Even better, it worked right on the first try!

I’ve not heard of that, Woodman - more info please?

Sounds like a podcast

Podcast with Howard Taylor (From Schlock Mercenary), Brandon Sanderson (From many World Building books that are fun), Dan Wells (Who I can’t remember), and Mary Robinette Kowal (Who I think I’ve read but can’t remember again, I think she was someone in SFWA too).

About 15 minutes long ā€œBecause you don’t have that much time, and we’re not that smartā€, there are nine seasons worth of things. They also have guests and special episodes, and end with a writing challenge to get people to write.

Cool - thanks Woodman, I’ll definitely check it out.

Hover board technology

The funniest thing? People believed it and then got angry when they found out it was a prank.

Half day vacation today so I can head down to Toronto ComiCon where I have a booth in Artists Alley for my buttons. Three hours and I’m outta here!

I’m no longer a manager! It was something I had to try, but after a year and a half, I have come to the conclusion that I don’t have the people skills or the interest in politics required to be a manager of people.

I am not returning to being a tech, but I am exploring the world of databases. I get the relief of letting something go that I wasn’t good at and the fun of learning a new skill.
