Sorcery! for Android released a few hours ago.
Is this by The Steve Jackson?
I think so - itâs based on four âchoose Your Own Adventureâ books he put out 25 or so years ago. I still have them because theyâre fantastic!
Going to download now on my tab - thanks Sig!
Yesterday I made a âWheel of Blameâ. We figured the manager of support was just pulling departments out of a hat* so we could do the same. Took the âsafeâ dartboard we have in the office and labeled it with departments.
- The manager sent a scathing email about how they were seeing an error on a web application and no one was figuring it out. He also tossed my department under the bus saying that if Citrix was load balanced properly, it wouldnât be an issue. Citrix is load balanced properly and the error he was getting was from a web application that we donât control. Also, he never told anyone they were getting the error. So not only did he bitch at the wrong group for the wrong thing, he didnât tell anyone there was a problem. âŚdick.
Itâs a gorgeous game. Iâve played it through a few times now. We should get the second part much quicker, based on all of the groundwork they laid by porting the first one. Not sure the timeline for part 3, but they made it sound like they will sync up the releases sooner rather than later.
The cooling unit in our server room finally got fixed so that it no longer sounds like a 747 getting ready for takeoff.
GRE out of the way. 160 on quantitative, 169 on verbal, official scores (including essay scores) in the mail in 10-15 days.
Also, got a QSL card from a 10M beacon I heard the other day from Texas using a random wire antenna hanging out of my window.
Booked our house for vacation this summer! DH graduates from Florida State summer term, and we are using the opportunity to go down and relax. Ever since we had a house in Nagâs Head last summer, itâs been really hard to use hotel rooms anymoreâŚhouses are so much more comfy for our family of 5. Our incredibly loud and obnoxious family of 5âŚ
My whole family (my parents, brother, sister, her boyfriend, dakwife & dakoffspring) get a house for a week each July on the Jersey shore (not that Jersey Shore, the good part). We used to go camping there but as the roster grew & the little ones arrived, it stopped being comfortable. Other than the mad rush to pack & clean on the departure day, I totally agree on the comfort factor. And you can bring more of your âstuffâ like bikes, boogie boards, beach umbrellas, etc. because you have a reasonable place (garage) to store them. Not to mention havening a real kitchen & grill so you can cook all your meals instead of eating at restaurants for a week.
I concur, even though our family is just two.
We pick a nice area, rent a vaca house/ condo/ cabin, then use it as a base for day trips to sites, hiking, theme parks⌠whatever that area has. We get privacy, security, bathroom of our own, kitchen, usually a hot tub and private deck.
One of our favorite spots is Hocking Hills here in Ohio, but weâve used the same formula down near Great Smoky Mountains, Yellowstone, Virginia near Shenandoah National Park, Michigan up by Mackinac.
Weâve been considering doing a long weekend at Hocking Hills. Itâs so close. Just have never pulled the trigger. There are so many nice cabins there.
With a family of 5, we almost have to get 2 hotel rooms to be comfortable, and the boys are so loud I feel bad for the rest of the hotel guests. And feeding them is out of control at restaurantsâŚwe drop $50 at a Bob Evans, so at a real restaurant x 3 meals a day weâd spend our entire vacation fund just on food! From here on out, we will probably only do housesâŚ
Mr.TM and I are trying to nail down vaycay plans - we couldnât afford to go anywhere last year for our 20th anniversary, so we really want to go somewhere we have to get on a plane to get to this year.
I think weâve got it narrowed down to Washington DC or Las Vegas, although weâre still debating Orlando a little bit as well. Any suggestions or preferences from the group here? Weâre looking at seven days in June or July, Saturday to Saturday so we have the Sunday to recover before going back to work.
If you go to Vegas, watch out for âresort feesâ charged by the hotels (I just learned about this today). You wonât see them advertised anywhere but theyâll tack on $20+ per day.
Also if youâre considering Vegas, check the convention schedule. Donât go during a big convention week, as rates will be ridiculous.
Vegas & DC are both hot in July, but Vegas is a dry heat with limited shade. DC is bound to be humid.
DC is a humid at those times, but if youâre just hitting the mall and the Smithsonianâs, youâll be spending most of the time indoors so it wonât matter. And that is at the beginning of the season so it might not be too bad. August is hell though
Yeah, we went to DC in August three or four years ago - didnât get to see many of the monuments because it was 100+ every day.
Thatâs another consideration - weâve been to DC before, but not to Vegas.
Thanks dakboy - Iâll mention that to Mr. TM. Right now weâre looking at paying more up front if we go to DC (hotel and flight) but probably spending less once weâre there. Although if we do go back to DC, I want another dinner at Proof and thatâs not cheap. Soooo worth it though.
This:
Given the ârocket scientistsâ I work with, itâs more than appropriate.
My favorite part of Vegas was the Atomic Testing Museum.
Our vacation is booked! It came down to a coin toss - both of us were happy with either Vegas or DC, but Mr. TM was leaning more towards Vegas, and I more towards DC. We will get to experience July 4th in the nationâs capital! Should be interestingâŚ
Yeah, if Vegas had won out (see my previous post) I wanted to see that.
