Glad to hear that. I hope he feels better soon.
I woke up this morning, and the title and registration to my van was under the windshield wiper.
My sonās roboticās team ended up 27th out of 53 teams. Honestly, they exceeded my expectations. Bond Brigade 5586 is a smaller team among much larger and better funded teams. They did end up with the Creativity award for their triple wheel drive setup, which ironically made the robot more difficult to control accurately.
Very cool. What did they win? Hopefully something to help them do even better next time?
Found a slightly unusual way to solve a small food waste issue. I had been buying a lot of mixed nuts and supplementing them with flavored almonds, honey roasted peanuts and/or cashews, etc., and putting them back in the same large container. Do it enough times and you start getting a build-up of the fragments of the nuts and flavorings at the bottom.
If you put that on potato salad, itās not exactly a new taste sensation, but it does make it a little more interesting.
What the heck? I hope thatās a good thing? My first thought was that someone broke in, removed it from the glove box, then returned it awkwardly, but Iām hoping thatās way off base.
A glass trophy and plaque. One of the tenents of FIRST Robotics is the spirit of cooperation between teams. The larger teams do help out the smaller ones. For a second year team, Kiel is doing very well. Last year, before I knew the team existed, they made it to the world championships for winning a coveted rookie award.
Iām seriously considering becoming a mentor in the program. While Iām not an engineer, I believe I can help the kids on the build/mechanical team build a robot and those on the business team get the word out with content creation and using social media.
There is a lot of corporate money stuck into this program. I hope my son sticks with it because the scholorships available with this program are substantial.
That seems to be the case. Not sure exactly what the motivations were, but I donāt care. The papers are staying with me for the time being.
Itās an older van, so a makeshift slim-jim would pop the locks easily.
I have the storage unit paid for, and most everything is packed.
I have managed, after months of fiddling, to get the MacOS version of KOTOR 2 to run without crashing with both the Restored Content and Extra Planet mods.
Next project: fix KOTOR to stop it strobing on iHD graphicsā¦
The folks from NotAlwaysRight have a new site:
Itās feel-good stories, rather than face-palm and head-desk. A lot of the stories are about tiny acts of kindness.
Management is well aware of somebodyās use of the internet while working, and is monitoring it very closely. Youād think of your contract was up in one month you would try a little harder. Hehehe
Ookwife is helping me to clean out my office at work.
Been putting it off for too long, and I donāt always have the time.
Now that she is here, thereās no excuses or procrastinationā¦
I like it⦠and we need news like that. More positive news, less negative news.
Love this one :
Wow⦠office is clean⦠chucked out a ton of junk.
Server room is next.
I joined my sonās robotics team (Bond Brigade 5586) as a parent mentor focusing on safety for 2017.
Iām not a big fan of the Wounded Warrior Project. They are lawsuit-happy and anti-gun even before the latest things popped up about their spending. Butā¦
They also promised $9 million over five years to Team Rubiconāno strings attachedāand we can do an awful lot of good with that.
(Disclosure: I am the Region X Planning Manager for TR, for which I get not one centavo in compensation, though I do get a few NCOER bullets out of it.)
Vacheās fever finally broke. Heās looking alert again, and while he isnāt running and bouncing yet, heās not moving like a geriatric cat anymore.
Edit: He ran today! He went out into the back yard and ran down the path. Now we can hope that he doesnāt relapse. If he does, itās probably FIP, which is fatal. I need to go read up on how long I have to wait for a relapse before I can stop worrying. Maybe @MSUAlexis knows?
March is over. March kicked my butt. I need a nap.
