I just ran my 4 miles in under an hour. For the second day in a row. Whew!
So thatās why youāre so far ahead on the Fitbit challenges. 4 miles daily run
Iāve been such a slug lately. I blame work.
On my noon run today, my mind went completely and utterly blank. Usually with my weekday lunch runs, Iām grinding on something for work, or stuck on someone being a major PITA, or bitching about it with a running partner. With my evening/weekend runs, Iām thinking about random other stuff.
Today, somehow everything disappeared. 55 degrees, just me, my iPod, and the route Iāve run countless times before.
@Force10: I had the same reaction with āDust in the Windā, which I mentioned on one of the previous incarnations of this board. I couldnāt stand the reference to it that was used in Bill and Tedās Excellent Adventure, but once I heard it used in an episode of Highlander, it meant so much more. I rather like Sarah Brightmanās version, too.
I think a couple of birds have figured out how to make an amusement park ride in my back yard. I just caught a glimpse of one of them at the feeder, then it flew over to a rose bush I got with the house. Thereās not too much to it, just some really tall, flexible stems with some leaves at the top.
The bird landed next to where another bird was, and their combined weight caused that branch to droop fairly rapidly until it touched the grass. Then the flew off and landed on another one, causing it to do the same thing. They did that about five times before giving up.
Just another example of how improvised, simple fun can be the best.
About an hour and a half ago I got in a knock down drag out with one of our sales guys.
He said three or four times, āIām not trying ot sound like a dick hereā
Thatās code for Iām being a superior dick.
I needed to leave the commentary out and just fucking quote the groups without worrying about it. As if this dude knows more about the business and the market than I do. I started doing this shit when he was in middle school. But my tone is innapropriate
According to the people around me I lost control of my tone of voice, but managed to say reasonable things.
So that and my boss having my back are what I am happy about.
My reaction:
I made the best brisket ever after 10 hours slaving over a hot smoker.
Remember: if something is hard to do, it isnāt worth doing.
Went to Costco and picked up new Star Wars movie. I was a terrible father and didnāt take them to the theater for it, but felt vindicated when I had to pause it three separate times for bathroom breaks and other crises. They really enjoyed it. We will probably watch it again tomorrow.
Itās nice when the attention span starts growing. Hopefully, youāre at the stage when you can begin to reason with them. ![]()
I once took my then 5 year old son to Revenge of the Sith and he only had to take one break if I remember correctly. That started a nice several year run of movie going buddy that was the time of my life.
Now, I have to beg my son to join his robotics team and promise not to publicly humiliate him as a result. He just warned me that I need to watch my language on FB. āHellā and āassā are apparently not mentor worthy words. He obviously didnāt remember the time when another driver cut me off on the way to Thor years ago. Now that was a string of expletivesā¦
āTHOU NINNY-HEADED BUFFOON! YES, THOU HADST BEST KEEP ON DRIVING ELSE I BRING THY ROUTE TO A HASTY CONCLUSION!
Hurry on now Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjóstr; we must needs get the children Magni, Modi, and Thrud to giant wrestling practice anon.ā
⦠or were you talking about going to the MOVIE Thor?
I like going to the menās room when one of the āC Levelā gentlemen are in there and performing my urinary duty as forcefully as possible.
You may make 5 times my salary, but I donāt piss like a leaky faucet.
I made my step goal for the first time in several weeks. Iāve been such a slug lately.
The āwood effectā tiles my mother chose are actually AMAZINGLY NICE. Photos inbound when I finish them at the end of the week
Spending some time with the family without having to worry about workā¦
One of my favorite authors replied to a comment I made on her Facebook post! So nerdy, I know, but Iām geeked! (And Iām totally aware that it was quite possibly an assistant, but Iām pretending we had a little conversation just the two of us.)
Thatās one of the things I like about the crowd Iām reading right now. And the decade Iām living in.
Mike Z. Williamson does the Indy 1500 Gun Show every quarter, I see him at least a couple times a year. Larry Corriea has answered Facebook and blog questions from me a couple times. Sarah Hoyt is active enough on her site and Facebook that I feel like Iām talking to her. Howard Taylor and Jim Zub both do Gen Con, usually with Tracy Hickman.
This is totally a NYT best-selling author. I am so not worthy.
Iām still a little in shock.
