What Made You Happy Today?

Woot! is havingening a sale on Unsimply Stitched socks!

I’m a fan. And I’m wearing a pair right now.

Free Comic Book Day is on Saturday, May 7th. Amongst the fifty comics that will be available, there’s seven I’m interested in, including new Serenity and The Tick stories.

I’ve been hunting down Concert deals for groups I have to see now or never see and up pops ZZ Top, at the local casino.

Best concert I ever saw was ZZ Top on their Recycler tour. And that wasn’t even that good of an album. And this one is up for $32.

I took a pass on Ian Anderson “And the members of Jethro Tull” and the eco warrior production of the life of Aqualung. It was a orchestral and movie driven theater experience with the band on stage playing and singing along. For something like $95 a piece. IT looked pretty cool, but I didn’t want to pay that much to get preached to about how GMOs are bad.

But ZZ Top for $32? Heck yeah, and their last two albums have been a return to Tejas style music.

My wife and I went out on a photography jaunt today. We have this tradition that when we get back we go through the photos, deleting the ones that are complete rubbish (sadly, quite a lot of those) and picking out our top 3 of the day. Sometimes it’s a struggle to pick 3 really good ones.
Today I couldn’t get it down below 8 - and there were others I could have put in there too. There’s even one I’d be happy to hang on my wall

I apparently qualify for a new economical boiler, which is nice because our current boiler is like grade G on the scale of G to AAA

The Serenity comic had a very nice story called “The Warrior and the Wind”, where River told Emma (Zoë’s daughter) how Zoë met Wash and then the rest of the crew, set in a fairy tale setting. If you can find the issue at your local comic book store or online at eBay, get it.

Due to the ACA continuing to “evolve” one of our lines of business has failed to perform as well as we staffed it for. 100 souls went home before lunch today. (This is after adding 400 jobs in the last two years, so the company is still doing well.)

And I was not one of them. In addition, my particular branch of the office, which is a core competency, is once again the focus of activity.

Hopefully everyone will remember how to do it.

This post put a smile on my face today. Thanks for fighting the good fight, @Lee_Ars. I enjoy reading your cable tests, but this one in particular was special.

Some of the comments on that article are flippin’ hilarious, especially some of the ones that aren’t supposed to be. Arms Technica and Ars Texica indeed. :grinning:

The same bush the birds were using as an impromptu amusment ride have sprouted some very nice-looking roses. The upper one is atop a very sturdy branch that’s about 8 feet above the ground.

I found a stuffed animal of an otter in purple at a zoo last week. Favorite animal, favorite color.

Pics? Please?

It’s this guy, but the color’s off in the picture. The body is a deeper purple, but not quite as dark as what’s used for a Purple Heart. The face is a darker lavender or wisteria and there’s a purple tinge to the white underbelly. I probably should have named him Mij, but to me, he looks like a Charlie.

It’s Towel Day.
