Finger crossed here, @Ook
Found this on Tumblr, I had to share it with you guys!

Edited: goes well with this⦠you can practically hear him shrieking āDONāT TOUCH MEEEEE!ā

For some reason Iām in the mood for egg or spring rolls. I just made about 40 of them, so that means Iāll have my fix for a while. (They freeze nicely, so when I want some, I just pull them out and fry them up)
I got close to $300 of stuff (including tax) for $125 out of pocket at EMS.
- $140 sleeping bag was $105 on their website, they matched the price
- $50 coupon
- $70 rebate debit card from buying tires earlier this year
Sad thing is, I only bought 3 items.
Oh, and continuing the āsaved moneyā theme, I went out to buy new running shoes while I was on vacation because A) I needed them, B) no clothing sales tax in NJ and C) the store advertised a 10% discount for new customers. I bought a pair of socks while I was at it and the shoes + socks ended up being less than the normal price of the shoes because she gave me a 15% discount for some reason.
Did some photography today.
Hereās what Wellington looks like in the middle of winter:
Okay, we donāt get a huge number of days like this, but we do get some. Not like some places where you donāt see the sun for 3 or 4 months ![]()
Not today, but the other day we got the report back. The tile and glue under our carpet is NOT asbestos. This is good as we plan on breaking through the floor in a couple weeks.
Got my first client (private work) today. Made a good impression.
Will bend over backwards for this client as he pays good money.
Will take a little while to get my own biz up and running, but this is a promising start.
Iām not sure that it made me happy so much as made me laugh and nod because it was true, but a kiwi comedian just posted this to her Facebook account
Iām gunna start going home with random very drunk guys and stealing all of their shit. Everything they own. It wonāt be my fault though⦠they were drunk. They should have known better. Iāll get away with it 90% of the time but then when one brave man takes me to court over it, Iāll argue that I wasnāt sure if he meant it when he said āno donāt steal my Audi.ā I just wasnāt sure if he meant it. I said āCan I please steal your Gucci watch?ā He said ānoā but I just wasnāt sure if he meant it. He was drunk. He brought this on himself. You should have seen how he was dressed at the club, expensive shirts and shoes. What kind of message is he sending with that!? I thought he wanted me to come and steal all of his shit. He was asking for it. When he said ānoā to me taking everything he owned I just didnāt know if he meant it. āNoā isnāt objective enough, it could mean anything.
Itās a horse crap joke.
Does anyone really think that there is anyone out there that thinks overriding a womanās no is OK?
Though actually there are people who think it is ok, just like there are people who think picking up money someone just dropped and keeping it is ok, or people that think beating someone up for their money is ok, or robbing convenience stores is ok.
Now, if some dude goes to a bar wearing expensive shit with money hanging out of his wallet, first of all, I would say āDude, you really going out like that? You are totally going to get robbedā, and secondly, afterwards Iād ask him why he wasnāt more careful. So to use the same damn analogy, yeah, heās stupid, and he didnāt deserve it, and itās not his fault, but he could have prevented it.
Was it Batmanās parents fault they were shot and killed? But what if they hadnāt gone down crime alley? When a little kid is shot at 3 AM outside, donāt people ask why they were out? When two dudes beat the shit out of each other in a bar at closing time, doesnāt someone ask why the hell they stayed that late?
Why is rape the only crime where asking why someone made themselves vulnerable isnāt acceptable at any level? Weāre talking about mature adults here, not children. Nobody ever deserves to be a victim, but everyone has the responsibility to do what they can to not be one. This is said as a member of the most victimized gender in the US due to violent crime, murder, mugging, assault, and even upwards of 40% of rapes, not including prison attacks, and in some jurisdictions not including āforced to penetrate.ā
Rape is not some magical crime that all of a sudden changes all the rules of crime, victimization and responsibility. The person responsible for the crime is the perpetrator. Sometimes the victim could have prevented it, bringing that up as an example for other people is not blaming the victim.
If I showed MikePās pics to $Wife sheād at least consider moving there.
I donāt disagree that prevention is better than prosecution, but there are some major differences.
- You will never hear in court that some guy deserved to be mugged because of what he was wearing.
- You will never hear in court that even though he said no he didnāt want to be mugged, he didnāt really mean it.
- You will never hear in court that somebody deserved to be mugged because he should have known better than to get drunk.
- You will never hear about a mugger getting off a charge because of these arguments
Yet you will hear those things in the case of rape.
Until that changes, you will continue to see articles like that, and a lot of people (me included) will continue to support articles like that.
We are also dealing with a lot of crime creep here. Many of the things now called rape, as opposed to violent rape and assault, are unprovable. How does someone prove that they said no, and one way to show that they may have said yes is other behaviors. It does have bearing on the case if a man says she said yes, and she says she said no, how she was acting and how she was dressed. As a defense what else do you have?
There is literally no way a man can prove a woman said yes unless he records her, and since being intoxicated means she canāt say yes, then he has to breathalyze her and record her and the result.
Iāve told my daughters to avoid men that say things like āShe deserved it dressing like thatā but in a court room if a woman was accusing me of raping her what else could I say if I know she said yes and sheās denying it? I point at her outfit, I point at her flirting, I point at her leaving with me. Nothing excuses rape, but how else do you defend against a false accusation? And considering the percentages of men that are now coming out as being raped or sexually assaulted this is not a woman problem, this is a people problem.
And you will hear in court, what was he doing there that late at night alone. You will hear he was staggering drunk and has no idea what happened, my client merely helped him get a cab. And muggers do get off sometimes when the victim was drunk. Thatās why rolling drunks is a thing.
Yup. In my younger days, when I frequented drinking establishments (I was a regular at a pool hall, not a drunk), I heard the scheming of some of the less morally upright young females. I recall a few times where the threat of falsely crying rape was used to get what they wanted, it isnāt that much of a leap to follow through on the threat.
Probably happens as much as āforgettingā to take your birth control. Not all that often, but itās a game changer.
Do I think rapists sometimes get off easy, yes. Do I think innocent men go to jail for rapes they didnāt commit, yes. I donāt like the tactics defense attorneys use to try to get guilty and innocent off, worse has been done for far worse crimes. It seems like lately in every case that Iāve read about either the man is considered guilty until proven innocent, or the judge wouldnāt convict if the guy did it again in the courtroom.
There should be a middle ground in there somewhere.
^ This. So much this.
Iād wager this happens far more than false rape accusations.
Iām just under two years behind on Schlock Mercenary now.
New Bojack Horseman on Netflix! Squee!
I TOTALLY DID NOT SQUEE. NOBODY READ THAT. YOU IMAGINED IT.
