Getting there! I’m up to March 2015.
Super jelly.
Went for my job assessment test (follow-up on the email from last week) and
- It was difficult
- I needed a Spock brain transplant
- It was interesting
They had different categories, visualization, logic, maths… I think I sucked at the maths part, maths was not one of my strongest points, but I gave it a go nevertheless.
After the test was done (2 hours) the interviewer told me that she will email me a link to an online test that I also need to do (to determine my personality) should I pass the first test. As soon as they received the personality tests back, they will then contact me for a job interview.
Lo and behold - the link appeared in my inbox. Tests done, submitted.
Since it was close to COB I think they will contact me either tomorrow (Friday) or next week (Moanday) for a schedule.
Am quite excited, it is a big hardware company that’s opening shops all over the place. Will be good for me to travel from site to site.
As a plus I already have the experience as I assisted clients with their POS systems (back in the day), so I’m no stranger to that kind of thing.
All that remains now is the job interview, then take it from there on salary, perks etc and if the package is better than what I’m currently earning, sign the papperwork, hand in my resignation and do a graceful exit.
Don’t forget to wave your hat! I’m sending good thoughts your way.
Thanks! Appreciated!
I’m also contemplating buying the boxed sets from him at Gen Con this weekend.
So do you already have the machine gun mounts on your vehicle and the slots for the armor plating?
Ooh. Think you can get it signed? That would be waaayy cool. Now I’m the jealous one.
Yeah, I miss GenCon. Maybe next year. The flight is dirt cheap (I’ve traveled on miles from my credit card the last couple years)… The only real horrible expense is the room, really… Even when I’ve shared a room with 4 other guys it’s not cheap.
My daughter talked to him for a while last year and he showed how he draws Schlock as we was penciling a comic at the time.
I can’t bring myself to talk to him, I get weird. I can talk to Zubb, but I haven’t been following him for 10 years.
And as far as places to stay, I can’t quite put everyone up, but I think the key is to stay out of downtown.
My wife just told me that for our anniversary she has managed to get tickets for the All Blacks vs the Wallabies (that’s the New Zealand rugby team vs the Australian rugby team for those haven’t heard of either team)
Today is the last time I sign on for the dole before starting my new job
Hopefully this’ll be the last time I sign on ever. I never want to have to live on anything as low as £320/mo ever again. EVER. Fortunately the post-tax income for the new tech support job is like £1100/mo so yay!
(And yeah, £320 sounds like a lot until you take off £30 for internet, £85 for utilities, that leaves just over £50 per week for food in a country where a nice loaf of bread can cost £2, and shop pizzas are £3.50 each…)
Make that double! As much luck as I can send your way.
Tortellini and Salad for dinner. Sometimes it’s little things.
One of the women in my office goes to the same church as one of the families in our Cub Scout pack. She found out because I tagged the dad in one of my pictures from summer camp on Facebook and they’re connected there.
Last night, she saw the son at a church function and mentioned to him that she worked with me. He said “oh yeah, I like him, he’s cool.” So I guess I’ve got the approval of at least one of the boys in the pack
I went to the nihonmachi matsuri (Japantown street fair) today. I had somen and takoyaki.
I’ve got a brand new great-nephew! Named Vesper David for reasons I was not willing to ask about. Not quite ‘Boy Named Sue’ territory but I have the feeling this kid is going to know how to fight by the time he’s out of diapers.
On the plus side, I’m going to spell his name out in assorted lego blocks as a ‘Welcome to Earth’ present. 8)
Congratulations on the new arrival!
My nephew shares his name with the protagonist in a popular space based zombie alien trilogy, so your great-nephew has some company
Follow-up to my posting above : I was more than pleasantly surprised to find an email in my inbox informing me that my interview has been arranged for Thursday the 11th @ 1500
Luckily my mother lives close to their HO, I plan to pack my interview clothes safely, then mosey off to work in my normal clothes, drive to my mothers, change over and make myself presentable.
So yes, high hopes.
Nice! Enjoy!
